ETERNAL HALF
To tackle such a massive stone, I considered a rational approach. I based my work on the number sequence 20, 40, 60, 100, 160, 260, to create the core proportions of "Eternal Half".
Based on the design of a small balancing stone sculpture, called Half, Eternal Half's monumental scaled allowed me to fully encode the number sequence as well as the 100 and 1/100 reference proportions.
Since ancient times, number sequences have been vehicles to create specific aesthetic experiences.
The convex and concave planes, the angles, the sharp edges, the balance of the stone interact with the surrounding nature, tacitly communicating the message of an eternal bond.
